★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I waited so long for some Japanese curry and this place definitely hit the spot. Such friendly service, food was to die for. So good I had to order a second serving. The owners are extremely nice and overall it was a pleasant experience.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This was the best curry I had on my trip. Restaurant was clean. Prices were reasonable. Menu consists of photos for each dish pinned to the wall alongside names, prices, and translations. Staff is very friendly and communicated well in English. This might have been my favorite meal on our whole week-long trip. I had a pork cutlet with leeks, which came on a plate of rice and curry. (All of their curry has beef in it, at least that's what the signs say.) Owner/cook told us to add the red pepper things, (told us they were not spicy and all Japanese children loved them) they added a lot of flavor to the dish. Glad he made that suggestion. 10/10

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ BEST PLACE FOR JAPANESE CURRY! I was impressed with the taste and quality of this food! We ended up coming here without planning, and it was a great surprise. Small restaurant located in one of the alleys, which is a good opportunity for you to stroll around the city and get away from the crowd. The owners are super friendly, caring and appreciative that you are in their restaurant. Food tastes perfectly and they serve super hot. Amazing! Would recommend to everyone!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ All my life I’ve been having mediocre Japanese curry from Japanese chain restaurants. My expectations of Japanese curry are never that high.
However. This place blew my mind. I never thought Japanese curry could taste this good. We ordered 1 Pork cutlet and leek curry, and 1 tomato cheese hamburger steak curry. What surprised me was that the curry in both dishes tasted distinct from each. The curries were flavorful, not too starchy. It’s not as thick as most Japanese curries (disclaimer), but I prefer my curry this way. The toppings - the pork cutlet was brilliantly fried! It was breaded and fried to perfection - not too oily, skin crisp, pork tender. Had to stop myself from licking the plate clean.
Owners are extremely courteous and friendly too, a good bonus to the meal!
Would come back 10/10 if I were ever back in Arashiyama.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Highly recommended curry place in Arashiyama. I got the Kyo-Curry (eggplant and other veggies) with green onions. Very tasty and felt great after eating it.
Also, the dark beer available pairs awesomely with the curry and fukujinzuke, so I suggest also getting at least one order of tap beer.
For about less than 1600 yen, this was a very good deal. Host is friendly and speaks good English!
If you love curry and are in the area, you can't miss this place.

The lady who runs it is super nice. She even made a special half tonkatsu / half hamburger version for me ^_^.
I liked the cheese hamburger the best and the curry was delicious.
Highly recommend going after checking out arashiyama.
