★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 今年（平成２８年）４月末、青野山の麓で開催される〔つつじ祭り〕を見るため、島根県津和野町の麓耕地区の〔つつじの里〕に行った。田植えを前にして、田んぼのあぜ道ではつつじと鯉のぼりの競演となっていた。ＪＲ青野山駅の南側になる。
ここから少し離れるが、津和野町日原には、〔かんこ塚〕と呼ばれる芭蕉句碑がある。役場で尋ねると分かりにくいところだからと案内をして頂いた。

現地には〔かんこ鳥塚〕の表示もあるが、たしかに一人では分からなかったと思う。表示のある箇所から民家の裏まで２０メートルほど歩く。役場の方も言われていたが、保存状態がよくないので、注意しないと見過ごすかもしれない。
At the end of April this year (Heisei 28), I went to Tsutsuno-no-Sato in Tsurugo district in Tsuwano-cho, Shimane to see the Azalea Festival held at the foot of Mt. Aono. In front of rice planting, the azalea road was a competition for azaleas and carp streamers. It is on the south side of JR Aonoyama Station.
A little far from here, there is a monument called Kankotsuka in Tsuwano-cho Hibara. He told me that it was difficult to understand when asked at the government office.
Kanko bird
There is a sign of [Kanko Torizuka] in the area, but I think it wasn't understood by one person. Walk about 20 meters from the sign to the back of the private house. The government office was also told, but because it is not well preserved, you may overlook it if you are not careful.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A tiny station at the foot of Mt. Aono. There's no regular employees/ticket machines, so you have to buy your tickets once you board (only the local line stops here, so it's pretty easy to figure out, though there is only a train every couple hours). It looks like something out of a Ghibli movie, especially at the end of April. The entire hillside is covered with different colored Azaleas and it's absolutely stunning. I live in the area and went during the Covid-19 pandemic, so they did not have the usual Children's Day festival, but I still enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere. Definitely worth a field trip for any flower enthusiasts. (The Shusuien Tea Shop in this area is also worth a visit.)
