In the past, it seemed that there was so much water that a monk from a nearby temple was struck by water and practiced, and clean water was flowing. After cutting down the trees in the forest and creating a park, the amount of water that they saw disappeared, and it seems that they will now die in a few years. A sad story that destroyed nature at the cost of development.

Up until three years ago, the spring water was dripping, but the trees were thick and the atmosphere was very atmospheric. There was a personality suitable for the sacred place where Sakaki was performed. In the past two years, under the policy of the city, the bushes in Akatsuka Park were killed, and the tall trees were low and almost rounded so that fallen trees and branches would not fall into private houses and people in the event of a disaster, so now it is possible to see from the roadway as well. . Here, the formation is exposed, and you can see how water springs and drips over the clay layer. In recent years, heavy rains have increased due to the arrival of huge typhoons. It is possible that the cliffs and surrounding areas were converted into residential land and the underground water veins changed, and the water volume has certainly decreased compared to the past. However, if the people living above install a rainwater storage tank and let the rainwater permeate the ground as it is, I think that the spring water here may increase. Itabashi Ward also has a subsidy system where half of the installation costs will be covered by rainwater penetration.

There must have been spring water in the past. It's chorochoro now. This is because the top is not a forest but a residential area.

Basically, there is a waterfall only at the bottom. It's a little different from the image of a waterfall, but it probably has a history because it was selected as one of the 57 selections.

It seems to me that there was already a large water source on the site and that it was used by people to purify themselves before visiting a temple, but with the development of the urban area on the site, the volume of water from the spring was decreasing a lot, until there was only this small fountain, at least the historic site is preserved, but even when it will be possible to realize that there is a water source here ... ?

It's not something that can be called a waterfall because it's just flowing, but I could feel the atmosphere of the waterfall.

Immovable waterfall Fudo Waterfall is a large waterfall that was popular during the Edo period. It has been used by people who participated in religious gatherings called "Kan", including mountain pilgrimages, as a place to cleanse the mind and body when leaving for the sacred mountain worship. At the end of the waterfall, a stone statue of Fudoson, which was built in the 11th year of the Kansei era (1799), is enshrined, and it can be seen that it was used as a waterfall retreat at the end of the 18th century. Later, at the end of the Tokugawa shogunate, when the religion of Mt. Kiso Ontake in Nagano Prefecture spread in the Akatsuka area, Ichiyama Akatsuka became popular. The Tamagaki around the waterfall was set up in 1902, and the pot was set up in 1933, which has been cherished by the local people for many years. I did. Once on the cliff line in Itabashi Ward, there were springs everywhere, and it was used as a water for daily life and a place of worship. However, most of them have disappeared due to land development and residential land development. In such a situation, Fudo Waterfall is the people of the local lecture. It has been inherited by and retains its appearance at the time when it was used as a place of worship in the area. December, 3rd year of Reiwa Itabashi Ward Board of Education

When you go down Daibutsu-dori next to Shogetsuin, you can see Akatsuka Fudo. (Photo) Unlike the waterfall I expected, it looks like water from a tap. (Photo) It used to boast abundant water. Above the waterfall is Fudoson, who is said to have been donated by Mr. Chiba, the owner of Akatsuka Castle, who prospered before the Edo period (arrow) (photo). Fudoson who is about to collapse at any moment. It remains untamed. (Photo) In the olden days, when he visited Mt. Fuji and Oyama Afuri Shrine for worship, he used to go to Misogi here. Nowadays, the amount of water is lonely, probably because of the housing in the neighborhood. There was a climbing stone staircase on the side, so I will climb it. There is only a square. The house is approaching to the side. (Photo)
