I sometimes use it when commuting by bicycle. The road is narrow, so be careful if you walk.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 岩盤をくり貫いて作られた峠道。
夏でも涼しい風が通ります。
大塩側に立てば太平洋が一望できますが
特に観光名所というわけではありません。
ここから東側のハイキングコースを進めば
菅原道真が太宰府へ下る途中で立ち寄ったという日笠山にでます。地元の桜の名所です。
この周辺の山肌は畑等たくさん開墾されていますが、ほぼ違法です。
最近は特に中国人やアジア系外国人が勝手に山を切り開いて畑を作り、筍を無断でとり、木を伐採して道を作ってやりたい放題です。
この辺りの山は粘土質で木がなくなると土が流れやすく、近年は崖崩れの危険など出てきています。
また、ハイキングコースで噛み付き亀が目撃されています。ご注意ください。

It is not particularly a tourist attraction.
From here on the eastern hiking trail,
I went to Mt. Higasa, where Sugawara Michizane stopped by on the way to Dazaifu. It is a famous spot for local cherry blossoms.
There are many cultivated areas around this mountain surface, but it is almost illegal.
Recently, especially Chinese and Asian foreigners freely open up mountains to make fields, take bamboo shoots without permission, and cut trees to make roads.
The mountains around here are made of clay and the soil flows easily when the trees are gone.
Also, biting turtles have been spotted on hiking trails. Please be careful.

It is the Oshio side. Chrysanthemum was cultivated beautifully.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 遊園地とか廃棄物処理場とか体育館とか野球場とかでガチャガチャしない、キツイ山登りも無い（少しばかりの登り路はありますが）、ちょっとしたトレール歩きがここを起点に楽しめます。牛谷あたりからここまで歩いてくると、南へも北へも散歩道（ハイキングコース）が伸びています。
There are no amusement parks, waste disposal sites, gymnasiums, baseball stadiums, etc., and there is no climbing on Mt. Kitsui (although there are a few climbs), so you can enjoy a little trail walking from here. If you walk from around Ushiya to this point, you will find a walking path (hiking course) extending to the south and north.

途中に個人の畑や小屋？があり小型のトラックに道を譲りました。
自転車で登りましたが、傾斜があり大変でしたが登りがいもあります。
2枚目写真からは別の道(登山道)らしきものがあり、ハイキングにはちょうど良いと思います。

A private field or hut on the way? I gave up on a small truck.
I climbed by bicycle, but it was difficult because of the slope.
From the second photo, there is another road (mountain trail) that seems to be suitable for hiking.

人や馬が行き交った峠本来の面影を残しているところがイイ！
日笠山縦走路のトレランでは何度も通過しているけど、交差する舗装路からロードバイクで来たのは初めて。
A pass that connects Kitahama Town and Oshio Town, Himeji City from north to south.
It's good that it retains the original remnants of the pass where people and horses came and went!
I've passed many times on the trail running on the Higasayama vertical runway, but this is the first time I've come by road bike from an intersecting paved road.
