ひとつは「塩とけ地蔵」でもうひとつは「赤いカニ」の伝説です。
「塩とけ地蔵」の伝説
医王寺の境内に骨と皮だけになったまっ白い塩どけ地蔵があります。昔、村でできものが流行し子供たちが大変難儀をしました。子供達はイタイヨー、カユイヨーと泣いていました。村人は地蔵さんに身代わりに成って下さる様、願をかけました。すると子供達のできものはたちまち治り、これを聞いた親たちが我も我もと願掛けをし地蔵さんはやせほそってしまいました。今日でも塩どけ地蔵様に皆んなのお詣りが絶えないと言われております。
「赤いカニ」の伝説
医王寺の山門を入った所に池があり、そのそばに鐘つき堂がありました。池には色んな魚が住みほとりには、たくさんのカニがくらしていました。池の上を白いサギが群れをなして、はるかに飛んで行くのを見てカニ達は「つり鐘さまのおかげです」と喜んでいました。あの恐ろしいサギの群れが来るたび鐘がひびき、ゴーンゴーンと鳴るたびサギはおどろいて空高くにげて行くからです。おかげでカニ達も安心してくらしていました。
ある日、寺近くで火事が起こり風にあおられて医王寺本堂、山門を焼けつくし鐘つき堂にせまりました。池のカニ達がぞくぞくと現われ、あぶくを出しながら鐘つき堂によじ登り、炎とたたかい、堂を守ろうとしました。炎とすさまじい戦いでした。一面焼野原の中に鐘つき堂のみが残りました。皆んなよく助かったと喜び、みんな集まって来ました。和尚さんは、堂の下に死んでいる何百とゆうカニを見つけ、おまえ達が堂を守ってくれたと合掌し池のほとりにカニ塚を立て供養しました。
それから医王寺のカニは、どうした事か背中を炎を浴びた様に赤くなったそうです。
境内には二つの伝説を説明するプレートがあり、祈願の為に身を削ってやせ細ったお地蔵さんとお塩がお供えされています。
 Io-ji has two legends.
One is the legend of Shiotake Jizo and the other is the legend of Red Crab.
Legend of "Shiotoke Jizo"
In the precincts of Io-ji Temple, there is a pure white salted Jizo that consists only of bone and skin. Once upon a time, things became popular in villages and children were very difficult. The children were crying with Itayyo and Kayuyo. The villagers made a wish for Jizo-san to take over. Then, the children's work healed quickly, and the parents who heard this made a prayer for themselves, and Jizo-san lost his weight. It is said that salted Jizo still keeps visiting every day.
Legend of "Red Crab"
There was a pond at the entrance of Io-ji Temple, and there was a bell tower near it. Many fish lived in the pond, and many crabs lived beside it. The crabs were delighted to say "thanks to the hanging bells" as they saw swarms of white herons flying over the pond and flying far away. Whenever that terrible heron herd comes, the bell sounds and every time it crows, the heron frightens and rises high in the sky. Thanks to that, the crabs were living with peace of mind.
One day, a fire broke out near the temple, and the wind drove me. The crabs of the pond appeared thrillingly, climbing up the bell tower with a blister, struggling with the flames and trying to protect the hall. It was a terrible battle with fire. Only Kanetsuki-do remains in the field. I was delighted that everyone was well saved and everyone came together. Kazuo found hundreds of dead crabs under the hall and told them that you had guarded the hall.
Then the crab at Io-ji Temple seemed to be red as if it had burned his back.
There are two legendary plates on the grounds, with a thin and thin Jizo and salt for prayer.

昔の人は、『蟹は水神様のお使いで、幸せをさずけてくださるのじゃ。いじめてはなりませぬぞ』とあがめてきました。
背中の赤い蟹
むかし、川崎宿、久根崎の医王寺の山門をはいった右手に池があり、そのそばに鐘撞堂があった池には、コイ・フナ・クチボソなどがすみ、ほとりにはカニがくらしていた。
魚や蟹たちは、寺参りの人たちがくだされるたべものを、なかよくわけあってのんびりくらしていた。
おなかいっぱいになった魚たちは、かおをのぞかせてはるかにとんでいく、白サギのむれをながめて、「つり鐘さまのおかげじゃ。ありがとう」といってとびはねていた。
中略
鐘の音に驚いて 白サギは池の魚や蟹達に手が出せなかったのです。
ある夜 近所から出た火事が医王寺に襲いかかり、鐘つき堂に迫った時、蟹達が泡を吹いて鐘撞堂を守った。
本堂も山道も灰になった寺で唯一無事でいられた蟹達の行いに気づいた和尚は池のほとりに蟹塚をつくり供養をした。
昔 久根崎の辺りでできものかはやり、子供達が難儀をした
ある村人が、地蔵様に塩を塗って願掛けをしたところ 子供のできものは良くなった。
それを聞いた親達が我も我もと願を掛けて 子供達の病は治ったが
地蔵様は塩で溶けて 痩せ細ってしまった

Red crab on the back
Once upon a time, there was a pond on the right side of the gate of Iouji Temple in Kawasaki-juku and Kunezaki.
The fish and crabs were relaxing and sharing the food that the people visiting the temple ate.
The hungry fish jumped far away, looking into the white heron, and jumping, saying, "Thanks to Tsurigane-sama. Thank you."

One night, when a fire from the neighborhood struck Iouji Temple and approached the bell tower, the crabs blew bubbles to protect the bell tower.
Osho, who noticed the actions of the crabs who were the only ones who were safe in the temple where both the main hall and the mountain road became ashes, made a crab mound by the pond and made a memorial service.
A long time ago, I tried to do something around Kunezaki, and the children had a hard time.
When a villager applied salt to Jizo and made a request, the child's work improved.
The parents who heard it made a wish for themselves, but the children's illness was cured.
Jizo melted in salt and became thin
