★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 川崎競馬場が嘗て全国でも有数の紡績工場と言われた富士紡績工場跡地に作られたことは意外に知られていない。1920年頃｢富士瓦斯紡績｣には、1000人もの沖縄出身の女性が働いていたことも既に人々の記憶から遠ざかりつつある。日本の近代工業化を牽引した紡績業は、その労働者として多くの女性労働者を女工として遠隔地から雇い入れた。富士瓦斯紡績川崎工場は1915年(大正4年)に操業を開始以後、昭和初期まで多い時で6000人前後が働いていたという。そのうち沖縄からの女性労働者が1000人というのはさすがに多いです。当時、沖縄では大正期に砂糖価格の暴落が生活に打撃を与え深刻な食料不足状態に陥っていた時代背景もあります。
もうひとつ知られていないのは、富士紡績工場が作られる前の大正初めなんと競馬場でした。
 It is not surprising that the Kawasaki Racecourse was built on the site of the former Fuji Spinning Factory, once regarded as one of the leading spinning factories in Japan. The fact that around 1,000 women from Okinawa worked for Fuji Gas Spinning in the 1920s is already moving away from people's memory. The spinning industry, which led Japan's modern industrialization, employed many female workers as female workers from remote areas. The Fuji Gas Spinning Kawasaki Factory started operations in 1915 (Taisho 4), and it was said that around 6,000 people were working until the early days of the Showa era. Of those, 1,000 are female workers from Okinawa. At that time, there was a time when Okinawa's sugar prices crashed during the Taisho era, affecting lives and causing serious food shortages.
Another thing that was not known was the racetrack in the early Taisho era before the Fuji Spinning Mill was built.
