This excavation was located in the center of the Nihonbashi area, which was the former Horidomecho 1-chome (the "key-shaped Irihori" that stays in front of the current Nihonbashi Honcho), looking at Edo Bridge on the right from the Nihonbashi River. Goods were transported from all over the country, mainly grains and dried foods, to this Funaribori, and the riverbank was widely used as a landing site. It was called "Yonegawagishi" because it was a landing site for rice that had been used, and it was called "Kofune Kashi" because there were many wholesalers of bonito and salt-dried sardines on the other side. The riverbank of Iribori, which broke to the left, was called "Shiogashi" because there was a salt wholesaler in the vicinity. Since the Edo period, a large amount of rowing supplies have been accumulated and unloaded. , The part of the moat that was bent in the Meiji era was reclaimed, and then the rest of the moat was reclaimed in the land readjustment project after the Great Kanto Earthquake and disappeared.
