There were lots of food and drinks on sale there including udon and soba noodles. Lots of nostalgic kids to play with. The staff were very friendly and helpful, a great place to take both kids and adults!!

There's a fascinating back story to the how and why it still exists today, although it was nearly torn down 30 years ago when the last residents were moving out. The kind wife of the man whose family lived there for 300 years was very animated and engaging regaling the story. We were a group of 20 and they were very efficient in serving us our delicious traditional Japanese lunch. There are books and toys for kids to play with. The two earthen fires are lit all year round, even in the height of summer as the smoke protects the thatch roof from insects.
