Proceed west at Oshinobashi intersection and get off at Kawara from prefectural road 37. I parked at the road station and walked about 5 minutes. It is certainly an unusually colored stratum. The pothole was less than 2m deep. There is an artificial part at the top, which is a bit disappointing.

Water had accumulated in the pothole, reflecting the sky. It's a great place, but no one is there, and it's a real little-known spot.

It is a piemontite schist that came out in Bura Tamori. When I visited in March 2018, I couldn't distinguish the piemontite (which seems to be reddish). Nagatoro, the world's first outcrop, where piemontite was discovered. I went on an excursion in elementary school 3, and after that I went touring many times and passed through, but I did not know at all. The visit was inspired by a TV program, but when I looked at it with a little knowledge and curiosity, there was a completely different view. The location is a little confusing. I don't get lost, but it feels like "What? From such a place?" There is no parking lot. Park your bike on the outskirts of the old public housing and walk down the stairs and hills, which are also unmaintained. The sign at the entrance says "pass by the side of a private house", but Minka is an abandoned house, so it's a little scary. But beyond that, there is a wonderful view.

The size is overwhelming. A pothole with a diameter of 1 meter or more is a must-see. There is no parking lot around, so please use the parking lot of JA Chichibu Rest House Minano, although it is a little far from the nearest Chichibu Railway Oyahana Station.

Today's main event! Red pot stone schist! Pothole. I'm 165 cm tall, but I can fit it in. And red rocks were exposed here and there. The rock formations that can be observed in the pothole are also beautiful! We highly recommend observing them directly.

I visited because it was the first time in the world. An outcrop of rare red schist was found. If you look closely, some parts of the rock are light red. Sudare stone is a beautiful crimson mineral made from charts containing manganese.
