この堰の南側に｢淀川大堰閘門｣を新設して、淀川河口部(大阪湾・夢洲)と枚方・伏見方面を船で往き来できるようにするとの計画が、2021年3月に発表されました。大阪・関西万博までの完成を目指すとのことです。
