★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 大きな独立丘陵から南に張り出した標高15～20mの段丘上の南側緩斜面に立地する。丘陵の南・北には鳴瀬川・江合川が流れ、大崎平野が広がっている。縄文時代早期～中期と、古墳時代～平安時代の集落跡が複合している遺跡である。昭和40年と49、50年に発掘調査が行われた。縄文時代の集落は東西490m、南北120mの範囲であり、中期の竪穴住居跡、早期～前期の貝層が検出されている。貝層は径15mと小規模で、カキ・ハマグリを主体としている。鹹水産貝塚としては、鳴瀬川流域で最も内陸部に位置している。
本遺跡では、さらに古墳時代前期の集落跡とその前面を区画する大溝が発見されている。大溝は集落を防御するための施設とみられ、内部にこの地域の首長クラスの住居があったのではないかと推定され、一般集落とはやや異なるものと考えられている。大溝内から木製の鋤先・砧・突き棒、竹製の笊・籠などが出土している。
It is located on a gentle slope on the south side of a terrace with an altitude of 15 to 20 m that overhangs to the south from a large independent hill. The Naruse and Eai rivers flow to the south and north of the hill, and the Osaki plain extends. It is a complex of settlements from the early to middle Jomon period and from the Kofun period to the Heian period. Archaeological excavations were conducted in 1965, 1949, and 1950. The Jomon period settlement is 490m east-west and 120m north-south, and the remains of a pit dwelling in the middle period and the shell layer from the early to early stages have been detected. The shell layer is small with a diameter of 15 m and is mainly composed of oysters and clams. It is located in the most inland area of the Naruse River basin as a seafood shell mound.
At this site, the remains of a village in the early Kofun period and a large ditch that divides the area in front of it have been discovered. Omizo is considered to be a facility to protect the village, and it is presumed that there was a chief-class residence in this area inside, which is considered to be a little different from the general village. Wooden plows, swords, sticks, bamboo baskets, baskets, etc. have been excavated from inside the Omizo.
