★ ★ ★ ★ ★ かつては藪が生い茂っていたことからこの名がついたとか。永井荷風の「日和下駄」にも登場します。森鴎外記念館の脇から汐見小学校の校庭あたりまでの崖は、典型的な海食崖です。
 This name came from the fact that bushes used to grow thick. It also appears in Nagai Kafu's "Hiyori Geta". The cliff from the side of the Mori Ogai Memorial Hall to around the school grounds of Shiomi Elementary School is a typical sea cliff.

本郷台地の中腹、不忍通りと旧中山道本郷通り(国道17号)に間にある崖の上部に沿うように伸びる。
古くからある自然地形に脇道。
今でも道幅は狭いが、昔はさらに狭道で両端に笹藪が繁り雪の日はその笹藪が重みで垂れ下がり塞がれたそう。
根津神社裏手から駒込方面団子坂に向かい森鴎外の居住地「観潮楼」があり、その小説にも表されていて、また多くの文人もこの道を利用した。
江戸東京の礎を築いた太田道灌残り末裔の屋敷もかって存在しその石垣など風情がある。
最近は土地開発や行政上から、その風情も失われている。
