I visited on January 13, 2009. The main deities of "Wakamiya Hachimangu" are Emperor Ojin (the main deity of Hachiman), his parents, Emperor Chuai and Empress Jingu. There is an anecdote that Empress Jingu went to work while pregnant. He is also known for his beauty, a god who has both beauty and strength, and a god who raises children. Therefore, "Wakamiya Hachimangu" is now known for praying for beauty and good luck. There is a mirror in the precincts that even the inside is reflected, and it says "Beautiful body and mind." It is also known as the "pottery shrine" because the pottery god Shiine Tsuhikomei was enshrined. A pottery market is held every August at the festival. I received a red stamp. It was the first time for a shrine or temple to have a mirror that reflects the whole body. I want to be "beautiful both physically and mentally".

It is a historical shrine located along Gojo-dori in Higashiyama, Kyoto. Because it is the birthplace of Kiyomizu ware It is famous as a pottery shrine. Many people come to visit the pottery market every year. Next to the torii, a pudding takeout specialty store is open.

It ’s the god of pottery. Even though I was in my hometown, I didn't know at all ~ According to the explanation of the signboard by Kyoto City, it seems to be a venerable shrine.

Originally in the first year of Tengi (1053), at the request of Emperor Go-Reizumi, in "Rikuokuwaki", which depicts the role of a military commander in the middle of the Heian period and the role of the previous nine years, "Sinking and better than martial arts, the most general. It was built by Minamoto no Yoriyoshi, who was also described as a vessel, in the northeastern part of the current Nishi Honganji Temple, in the Saitoin of the Samegai Saitoin, as the young palace of Iwashimizu Hachimangu. Since Minamoto no Yoritomo, who opened the Kamakura Shogunate, and Takauji Ashikaga, who opened the Muromachi Shogunate, were the ancestors of Yoriyoshi and his son, Taro Yawata, the shrines of the shogunate were customary throughout the Kamakura and Muromachi periods. It has been worshiped for a long time as "the shrine of the shrine", and on the side of the main shrine, there is the sacred stone "Horai stone" dedicated by Mr. Takauji Ashikaga and the octagonal hand water bowl of Mikage stone. (However, since then, it has undergone three relocations from the devastation caused by the Onin War and the remodeling of Kyoto by Hideyoshi to the current location, and it is now a shrine that does not have a parishioner area.) The current shrine was rebuilt in 1654. The main gods are Emperor Ojin (the main god of Hachiman) and his parents, Emperor Chuai and Empress Jingu. Empress Jingu departed while pregnant, commanded the Sankan subjugation (Silla, Baekje, Goguryeo) and won a splendid victory. There is a sign saying "Beautiful body and mind" and it is also known for the benefit of beauty and rejuvenation that "you can see the appearance before and after worshiping". (Compact mirror amulets are also popular with women) In addition, it is said that the current company location is the center of "Gojozaka", the birthplace of "Kiyomizu ware", which is a pottery in Kyoto. ) Was also enshrined. It is also called "pottery shrine" because it is the same pottery and is usually enshrined on the roof, and the pottery market is held every year from August 7th to 10th. .. (In 1985, a monument to "Gojozaka, the birthplace of Kiyomizu ware" was erected in gratitude to the ancestors of Gojozaka and those who have contributed to the operation of the pottery festival.)

This shrine fopunded on Gojo street in Higashiyama-ku slightly west of Higashioji street is called Wakamiya-Hachimangu-sha. The original shrine was founded by Minamoto Clan in 1053 in another location nearby ( Sainoto-in street ) on the Reizei Emperor's order. It was moved to current location in 1605 after the War of Onin in Muromachi era.
