 A water tower and an engine storehouse were completed in 1912 (Meiji 45), which is one of the modernization heritage in the Tajima region.

1906年に播但鉄道（現JR播但線）が延伸、竹田駅・和田山駅が誕生。
1911年には、和田山と福知山を結ぶ福和線（現JR山陰本線の一部）が開通し、和田山駅は両線の接続駅となる。
翌1912年、機関庫と給水塔・転車台、引き込み線などの付属施設が建設されたとのこと。
以降1991年までのおよそ80年間にわたり、蒸気機関車やディーゼル機関車の点検修理などのための施設として利用された。
全国でも数少ない煉瓦造りの機関庫。

1912
In 1906, the Bantan Railway (currently the JR Bantan Line) was extended, and Takeda Station and Wadayama Station were born.
In 1911, the Fukuchi Line (currently part of the JR San-In Line) connecting Mt. Wada and Mt. Fukuchi was opened, and Wadayama Station became a connecting station for both lines.
The following year, 1912, an engine cabinet, a water tower, a turntable, and ancillary facilities such as a drop line were constructed.
It was used as a facility for inspection and repair of steam locomotives and diesel locomotives for about 80 years until 1991.
One of the few brick-built engine warehouses in Japan.
