If you write "Ryokan in front of the station", it doesn't sound very good, but when you exit the station ticket gate, you can see the genuine inn in front of the station on your right. In the old days of Kiso Fukushima and the Showa era, there was a lot of activity such as buses to Kamikochi, but in the era of private cars, the use of trains has dropped sharply, and I imagine that this inn has also entered a difficult era. Under such circumstances, I applied for dramatic before and after and was renewed. First of all, I praise you. The food is good. Enjoy the banquet dishes in this area It will be one of the best inns we offer. (Among them, miso soup is excellent) In addition, the renewal design is a wonderfully well-made facility. However, it is undeniable that the hall is small, and the bathhouse is extremely small (it seems better to reserve it by appointment). Also, if you are in the central atrium area, you can hear the staff talking. I don't have enough space. It's a pain to have no public space to relax. (^ _ ^;) It is a convenient location for exploring the city of Kiso Fukushima by train, so for those who want to eat delicious banquet dishes, we recommend staying at a low off-season room rate and during the vacant period, but if you make a reservation, I think it would be nice to confirm that you are not batting with group or group customers. Also, if you use your own car, there are many reasonably-priced and good hot spring inns and hotels in the area, even if the food is not as luxurious as this, so please compare them. When. This is a dry three-star. I'm sorry.

Great service, staff and onsen. Lost count of the number of courses we got served, each were unique, delicate, balanced and in general, amazing.

Really lovely ryokan. Comfortable and impressive meals - both breakfast and dinner. Staff were lovely as were facilities.

Great service, extremely friendly staff. The food is great and some of the rooms have a private onsen bath. The place is clean and well kept. Definitely would come here again.

Great hotel in the heart of Kiso. Just across the street from the train station for easy access to Matsumoto, Tsgumago, Magome, and Narai. The Kiso-Fukushima station is one of the few stations on the limited express lines so it couldn't be easier to get to from Nagano or Nagoya. Fantastic (and huuuuge) breakfast and dinner, and the hotel staff couldn't be nice be nicer. They speak a bit of English too and try hard to tell you what all of the food is in English. Google translate was needed to ask if something was dairy or wheat or what a specific kind of fish is, but so far that's par for the course in Japan. We got the room with private bathroom and we had a great tub and view of the mountains from our bathroom window. You get comfy mats to sleep on and yakuta to wear and you get to experience the great Japanese hospitality. Overall we loved our stay here and would highly recommend it for those looking to slow down and explore the Kiso Valley.

It's a great place .. an excellent food service.. A very good private onsen , open 24 hrs. Enthusiastic staff , limited English but no impediment. Do get the set meals .. but there is no western food , stay somewhere else if that is what you are chasing .DONT DRINK THE WINE I think it might have a connection to hotel . There is some good wine to be had in Japan , and from Nagano area, but isn't on their wine list !! Ask for extra towels ...bit lousy with them . Recommend, you'll enjoy ! It r reflects very well traditional ryoukan service and quality , shoes off in genkan and whole hotel is shoeless. Enjoy . Cob

This ryokan was one of, if not the highlight from my trip to Japan. The staff were INCREDIBLY gracious and helpful. The room was spectacular, the service was amazing and the food was simply perfect (they are also adept at accommodating vegan/vegetarian diets). I recommend this to everyone who can take the time and afford to visit. The service was on par with 5 star hotels in Tokyo or Kyoto which would cost triple what you pay here. This is the epitome of what Japan is about: serene settings, exquisite food, gracious and friendly staff. I would give them 6 stars if I could!
