The site of Katsuyama Castle in Sakura City is large and there is a parking lot, so I had a good walk. There is also a museum and art museum next to it, so I think it's easy to look at art and to have a wider humanity ?

The ruins of Katsuyama Castle have been abandoned by Hideyoshi Toyotomi's Kanto punishment, and the castle has not been rebuilt since then. It is very unfortunate that we do not know what castle was built at that time. Only after the earthwork tells the state of the castle at that time. In addition, the flow of Kinu River seen from the castle ruins is a torrent, exactly like a river where Oni is angry.

The view from the main enclosure was unexpectedly spectacular than the castle ruins Unnun. Against the backdrop of the clear blue sky, the majesty of the Nikko Mountains, which shines white with snow over the Kinugawa River, was so beautiful that I was very satisfied. I don't care about the rest (laughs)
As for the castle, here was the northern front line of Mr. Utsunomiya, a clan of the Warring States period, and was defended by his vassal, Mr. Haga. On the other hand, the northern rival Nasu, who is trying to expand his power, is trying to go south along the Kinugawa River, and this Katsuyama Castle is geographically just above the tancob. Fierce battles were repeated many times in an attempt to somehow neutralize and use it as a foothold for the southward movement. However, Mr. Utsunomiya defended this place to the end and did not fall.
Let's feel like Mr. Nasu and think about how to capture this castle (laughs). First of all, on the west side, the Kinugawa River is the edge and you cannot approach it. I came south from the north of Theory Street, so let's say I'm going to attach from the north. This is also assumed on the defensive side, and the part with the largest step (relative height 15 meters) of the river terrace where the castle was built faces north. In addition, there is no gate that can be a breakthrough on this side due to the defense of the iron wall that the triple empty moat and the earthworks separate from the main enclosure.
Well, I was in trouble, it seems impossible from this side (laugh). Suddenly, there is a Ninomaru Gate (which does not exist now) on the east side. Change the target of all army attacks! There is no difference in elevation as before, and this is cool!
Hi, of course, it's a trap of the enemy army (laughs) The structure is such that the earthworks and the empty moat are also guided here. After that, when the enemy army forced our army to bleed a lot in front of the gate, it pulled it up to the main enclosure.
"You guys! Ninomaru has been captured. All that remains is to leave the main enclosure, and the victory is near!", But the personnel and weapons and ammunition are exhausted, and there is no room for immediate capture of the main enclosure. Moreover, the earthworks of Honmaru are huge, and they are incomparable to Ninomaru! .. In particular, Ote-mon has a turret and has a structure (horizontal arrowhead) that can be hit not only from the front but also from the side, so it is dangerous just to approach. While hesitating, the news comes in.
"What? The Utsunomiya main army's reinforcements are approaching half a day away !? Ikan has taken too much time. The retreat is blocked and he becomes a mouse in a bag. I'll prepare and start again. I'll withdraw soon, hurry! "
From the beginning, the Ninomaru Gate was made easy to attack in order to exhaust it and save time. I imagined the battle at that time assuming that both armies had the same overall strength, but I think that it will not be long before they hit.
However, unlike the imagination, in reality Katsuyama Castle would have been a hellish picture itself, with the corpses of bloody soldiers from both armies rolling around the rugged area. I'm really glad I wasn't born in this era. (Lol)
