I had the number 1 ramen with zero levels of spicy and pepper, it was not spicy at all but delicious. My wife, who enjoy spicy foods, tried the number 2 with level 2 spicy and 1 pepper, it was deliciously hot (not very spicy). I want to come back here to try other ramens!

The staff are ever so friendly and accommodating, a brilliant ramen shop to visit if you are shopping around Sanjo in Kyoto!

Picked spicy and peppercorn level 2 (you have a choice from 0-10) and it was pretty hot. I enjoy a good spice but this felt like it was just hot for the sake of being hot with an abundance of chilli flakes added. Dint see English menu however staff spoke and understood fine.

Then we were asked to choose whether or not we wanted to increase the level of hotness even more. The ramen was extremely good and really spicy, even though we chose a dish at the machine with "only" two flame symbols on it. The music in the background, consisting mainly on taiko drums and pipe sounds, gave us the impression of passing a trial of fire. The interior design of this place (images of fiery hounds, temple bells, oni masks) accentuated that even further. A great experience for anyone who loves spicy food. There was a dish on the displayed on the machine with around 8 flame symbols on it. We didn't dare to pick that one.
