Totally free view of the city from way above the rooftops. The downside? The line can get huge just waiting to take the elevator up. My wait time was about 45 minutes on a Sunday. The courtyard outside was honestly nicer than the observatory.

A excellent observatory facility on the north and south buildings. Although most tourists recommend to walk from Shinjuku Station, the best is actually from the Marunouchi Line because the subway station is to the north of the complex. The view is great especially when you have a zoom lens so you can take closeup shots of nearby buildings. The facility is free which means lineups will be long.

Free observatory near/in shinjuku section on Tokyo. Amazing views of city, 220 meters up! Quick elevator up to two free observatory towers with 360 views, where you can see good view of Tokyo beneath you, and Mount Fuji in the distance! Very much worth coming here especially cause it’s free!

There are two gates each for nOrth and south view You can even take view from both , there is a small shopping area and cafe on 45th floor . They also have a nice sitting in case you are tired Lastly its free even for foriegners

Get a breathtaking view of the Tokyo skyline for absolutely no cost! Located in a high class locality of multiple skyscrapers, the Tokyo Metropolitan Building has two observatories- North and South. The south observatory has views of the sea as well. There are also some piano performances in the observatory occasionally, which means you can a peaceful experience. At walking distance from Shinjuku station, would really recommend this wonderful experience (over Skytree/ Tokyo tower).

Great views of the city!! It's free, the staff are friendly and helpful and it's not too crowded these days (November 2020). The staff also try their best to enforce social distancing, the wearing of masks and allow some time for the elevators to air before allowing you in. Check the operating hours before going as it closes quite early in the evening.

No Entry Free. Two observatories cover the major buildings of the city. The lush Shinjuku garden and the Cocoon building can be seen clearly. You will find many artists sketching the buildings . There is a giant piano for trying as well.
