Yakitori View — shot this set while waiting for my skewers to be prepared. I was super lucky to be seated near the entrance which made a nice framing for the streets of Omoide Yokochō.

Quite an interesting place to go if you would like to experience the legit Japanese street-side food bars. Gets quite smokey when the stores open at night so make sure you're ready to smell like barbecue when going here. Prices are fine, and food tastes decent, but probably not the place to go if you want to avoid close contacts with people.

This tight little alley is full of yummy, grilled street foods. The space is very tight and a bit difficult to navigate without English signs. You’ll leave smelling like the grilled meats here. But the food is wow! Minimal ingredients, well done. Expect there to be a cover charge. I had really good grilled pork belly, marinated raw tuna and chicken at one of the places here. More like appetizers because I still got dinner after. Prices considered, it isn’t a budget meal but worth a try at least once.

Unfortunately many of the businesses were closed due to Covid and State of Emergency. I will definitely revisit again to try the yakitori and experience the alleyways & atmosphere here. Update 3/30/22 … all the yakitori stands and restaurants are open and I was able to enjoy the atmosphere❣️

You will smell it before you see it. Great food street in Japan, super fresh foods, delicious smells. Can get crowded, (its an alleyway after all), however worth going for myriad of fresh street food prepared before your eyes. Best time is at night for evening meal, the ambiance, sounds sights, smells, BBQ smoky fog, exotic offerings have to be experienced to be truly appreciated. Remember this is street food, not 5 star hotel and you get to see and meet the chef in the kitchen, literally in front of you! [Plan visit after Pandemic is over, as most counter stalls are currently closed]

Fun spot to grab dinner! Lots of tiny stalls in small space that make the most of every inch! It's a bit crowded and smokey as the night goes on. Must have yen!!!

I remember the first time I visited this place, many years ago. I found the how to get there instructions on a blog and it was hard to find. It's funny because it is actually right there. I feel like once I discovered it, it came to reality. If you discover it, enjoy the hot sake and yakitori which almost exclusively what these tiny restaurants sell. Visit it in the night, it will feel like one scene out of Blade Runner.
