五	五十嵐正臣 on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 碑と説明板が建っており、説明板には下のように書かれています。夏目漱石（本名金之助）は、慶応三年（1867）一月五日に、夏目小兵衛直克と千枝夫妻の五男三女の末っ子としてこの地に生れた。夏目家は、牛込馬場下横町周辺の十一ヶ町をまとめる名主で、喜久井町の名は夏目家の家紋「細井筒（ほそいつつ）に菊」に因んで名づけられ、夏目坂も夏目家に因んで命名されたという。漱石は生後間もなく四谷の古道具屋へ里子に出されたが、すぐに生家にもどり、再び内藤新宿の名主塩原昌之助の養子になった。九歳のとき塩原性のまま実家に戻り、二十一歳のとき夏目家に復籍している。この地での幼少期のことは、大正時代に書かれた随筆「硝子戸の中」に詳しく記されている。この記念碑は昭和四十一年81966）に漱石誕生百年を記念して新宿区が建立したもので、題字は漱石の弟子安倍能茂（よししげ）の筆になる。 There is a monument and an explanation board, and the explanation board says as below.
