古くは弘長元年（1261年）に本城氏が入り、応永十三年（1406年）に最上満直の四男、楯岡満国が入った。
のちに最上義光の弟楯岡光直が城主となるが、光直は義光の死後最上家家臣と跡目相続で対立し、それが原因で元和8年（1622年）に最上氏は改易となり、楯岡城も廃城となった。
現在は、一部が東沢公園として整備され、ハイキングコースとなっている。

登城路入口に駐車場があり、城跡展望台までは徒歩10分程度です。

Tateoka Castle Ruins
Mr. Honjo joined the company in the first year of Hironaga (1261), and Mitsunori Tateoka, the fourth son of Makoto Mogami, entered in 1406.
Later, Yoshimitsu Mogami's younger brother, Mitsunao Tateoka, became the lord of the castle, but Mitsunao had a conflict with Yoshimitsu's vassal of the Mogami family, which caused him to be renamed in 1622. Tateoka Castle was also abandoned.
Currently, it is part of Higashizawa Park, which is now a hiking course.

There is a parking lot at the entrance of the climbing road, and it is about a 10-minute walk to the castle ruins observation deck.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 七曲りコースから頂上へ。保育園から家を挟んで一本横の道から登りますが案内板がないので不安ですが、なんとなく獣道跡がありますので登りましょう(^_^ゞ 途中に案内板があります。
少し登れば頂上です。展望台から村山市街地が一望できイイ景色です。
From the seven bend course to the top. I climb from one side of the nursery school across the road, but I am worried because there is no guide board, but somehow there is a beast trail, so let's climb (^_^ ゞ There is a guide board on the way.
If you climb a little, you can reach the top. You can see the city of Murayama from the observatory and it is a nice view.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 東沢バラ公園の東側にある楯岡城址。登り口は数カ所ありますが、天満神社側から行くと、すんなり主郭に行けます。西側の稲荷神社コースは、、、獣道というかどこが道？ってくらい笹だらけの急斜面を登らなければなりませんでした。
主郭から町並みが一望できます。
西側はハイキングコースになっており、歩きやすかったです。
The Tateoka Castle Ruins on the east side of Higashizawa Rose Park. There are several ways to get there, but if you go from the Tenman Shrine side, you can easily go to the main district. The Inari Shrine Course on the west side is ... So I had to climb a steep slope full of bamboo grass.
You can see the cityscape from the main area.
The west side is a hiking course and it was easy to walk.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 楯山にある楯岡城跡です。全然整備されてない散策路だが、時々道標や地図がありました。土塁、曲輪、堀が確認できます。
It is the remains of Tateoka Castle in Tateoka. It is a walking path that is not maintained at all, but sometimes there were signposts and maps. You can see the earthworks, Kuruwa, and moat.
