k	karahiro on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 1921(大正10)年4月1日、丹那トンネルの東口工事現場で起工以来最初の大崩壊事故が発生、多数の犠牲を伴う大惨事となりました。坑口から300m(現在の熱海梅園内「香林亭」あたりの直下)の地点で、長さ約70mにわたって崩壊が起き、作業中の33名が生き埋めとなりました。関係者を先頭に必死の救援活動もむなしく、8日後奇跡的に救出された17名を除く16名の命が奪われ、尊い人柱になってしまったのです。同年6月26日鉄道大臣をはじめ関係者400余名により慰霊祭が挙行されました。丹那神社は、このトンネル工事の犠牲者の英霊の鎮魂の意味を込めて、工事の守り神として坑口上に建立、当初「隧道神社」と命名されて現在地に祀られましたが、後に「丹那神社」と改称されて今日に至っています。なおその後、1924年の西口の湧水事故や1930年の北伊豆地震による崩壊事故、その他の事故による犠牲者も合わせ合計67柱の英霊を祭神として祀っています。その他の祭神は、大地主命、大己貴命、手力男命、豊岩門戸命、櫛岩門戸命です。毎年4月第一日曜日に、奉賛会の手により、例祭が挙行されています。 On April 1, 1921 (Taisho 10), the first catastrophic accident occurred at the east exit construction site of the Tanna Tunnel and it was a catastrophe accompanied by numerous sacrifices.
