★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 昭和42年(1967年)３月に谷町線の谷町四丁目から東梅田間の開通と同時に開業。同年９月、中央線の谷町四丁目から森ノ宮の開通と同時に開業した。開業当初は２路線とも発着駅だった。翌年の昭和43年には谷町線が天王寺まで延伸、昭和44年には中央線が本町まで延伸開通し、共に途中駅となった。
駅前は国の出先機関が集まる大手前官庁街となっており、難波宮跡や法円坂遺跡の最寄り駅となっている。

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Well maintained. Powerful aircon for that hot Osaka Summer. Exit 9 for Osaka Castle and History Museum. Exit 10 for Naniwa Park.

Take exit 2, and you will walk a block, but you diagonal from Osaka Castle.
Pretty close by.
