★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 奥多摩街道沿いに有りますが、大きな山門がある訳ではなく大きな民家のような入り口で看板が無いと通り過ぎて行ってしまう感じの小さな寺院です。
曹洞宗で本尊は聖観音との事ですが、昔は尼寺だったと言う歴史を持っているとの事です。ちなみにこの辺りの地区「田中町」と同じ寺名ですが「でんちゅうじ」と読むそうです。
本堂は再建されたモノで新しいのですが大柱が「水色の塗装」でとても珍しいです。(むしろ寺院としては違和感を感じてしまいますが……?)、かつては尼寺だった事も有り女性の斬新なセンスが活かされているのでしょうか⁉️
Although it is located along the Okutama Highway, it is not a large temple gate, but a small temple that feels like a large private house that will pass if there is no sign at the entrance.
In the Soto sect, the main shrine is Holy Kannon, but in the past it has a history of being a Buddhist temple. By the way, the name of the temple is the same as Tanaka-cho, but it seems to read “Denchuuji”.
The main hall is rebuilt and new, but the main pillar is “light blue paint” and is very rare. (Rather, I feel a sense of incongruity as a temple ... ?), but once it was a temple, is the novel sense of women utilized?
