I went to watch a Mingei program on TV and want to see the real thing. A large selection of items from everyday vessels to writers. Recommended for folk art lovers.

It is a shop that sells folk art pottery in Ginza. There were Izumo's Shussai Pottery, Koishiwara ware, Onta ware, and Okinawa's Yachimun. I wanted a morning cup from Shussai Pottery, but it was so popular that I couldn't get it. I had a soup cup, so I think I'll go again. This time, I bought a one-sided mortar of Koishiwara ware, which is a flying plane. It can also be used as a small bowl and seems to be useful.

Although it is a small Mingei store, this is a venerable store founded by members of the "Mingei Movement" such as Soetsu Yanagi. Nyame was inspired by the "100 Years of Mingei Exhibition" at the National Museum of Modern Art. It seems that there are stores in Tottori besides Ginza. It's a long way, but let's go there too! When I saw the "Mingei 100th Anniversary Exhibition", I thought that the "Mingei" handled at this store may be unexpectedly "simple" for us today. However! !! I think this should be regarded as "warm old wisdom new" Nyame! If you look closely with a clear eye, there are many items that make you feel handicrafts that cannot be reproduced with industrial products, such as baskets made of bamboo and walnut skin, and glass tableware that you can feel handicrafts. !! The whole shop has the impression of a typical "country grandmother", but on the contrary, she changed her view that she lived a very fashionable and luxurious life.

This place is good for buying products that are made in Japan. The shop keeper can show where in Japan the products were made and we even add description cards with the products.

Little folk craft store, with pottery and wooden toys. They have drawers full of beautiful hand made paper in the back, so be sure to open them and look inside. Upstairs are some used kimonos and other things.

Beautiful special items and gifts that are higher quality than the usual tourist stuff. The staff is attentive and can answer all questions. Very worthwhile to visit and see what's available.
