小鴨ケ磯とよく間違われているようですが、こちらの海岸のほうが面積が大きい。
また、最近ロシア将校の碑がある遊歩道が波で損傷しているためか、城原海岸方面に新たに、こちらの遊歩道へつながる連絡道が整備され、気軽によれるようになった。
