It is incredible to see a natural sand dune in Japan. It is not something that should be ok this island. It was a great walk across the sand dune.

A place of wonder. The whole dune site is simply gorgeous and it's a delight to just walk around the site. Some paraglider use this spot also. A more basic and expensive-for-nothing thing is the ride on top of a camel, which I don't recommend. Use your two legs and just wander through this amazing place And, above all, don't miss the sand museum which is just besides the main entrance.

Interesting place to see. The dunes are quite big.

The views are really magnificent, especially on a sunny day. You can go up and down the giant sand dunes. Highly recommended!

Nice area. Something you wouldn't expect to find in Japan. Visit if it's along the way to somewhere. Probably more fun if you do the sandboarding or paragliding.

Tottori prefectures most famous site? Probably these sand dunes. Take a cable car from the top and then walk up and run down the dunes. It was a nice experience and easy to get to via bus from tottori station.

Panting, sweating even though it’s cold out, but you made it to the top! This area, aptly named “the back of the horse,” is the top of the sand dunes. Ocean on one side and trails of ants crawling up the other side make for an interesting and unexpected view in Japan. Wait, those are people, not ants. It’s a bit tricky to walk on sand especially up and down steep slopes, so please watch your footing. This free attraction is worth seeing when you come to Tottori. Actually, it’s the main attraction and reason you may come to Tottori, so make the most of it and climb the hill if you are able.

After having enough with the view of the dunes, enjoying the sunset view here is a bonus. A little side notes: be aware of the schedule for the last bus if you don't use private transportation. It gets tricky after everything's dark. This beautiful place could suddenly become an empty horror scenery (for me, at least).
