乙	乙名丹次郎 on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 田端駅北口を出ると、左前方に見えてくる立派な建物。田端は明治時代末期まではほぼ田園地帯であったが、上野が文教地区として開発されてくると、地続きの台地であるため、画家や美術学生が徐々に移り住んできた。「文士村」となる上で決定的だったのは、芥川龍之介が、それまで暮らしていた本所（墨田区の両国あたり）の水害の多さを嫌って、当地に来たことであった。この記念館も、芥川の事跡を中心に、大正から戦前までに綺羅星のごとく集まっていた文化人たちを紹介する施設と言っていい。室生犀星、菊池寛、萩原朔太郎、岡倉天心といったビッグネームが、この一帯に集まっていたなんて、まことに驚くべきことだった。個人的には、記念館自身が編纂したパンフレットは非常に参考になるけれども、これだけの文化的資産があるのだから、もちろん有償でいいので、文士や芸術家を、作品の引用やエピソード込みで、もう少し突っ込んで紹介する書籍（区の教育委員会が編纂するなどして）などがあったら、もっとよかったと思う。ただ、無料でこの記念館を見られるのはとても嬉しいことだ。芥川龍之介が庭先で子供たちと戯れ、自ら木登りする動画が残っており、これを見られたただけでも価値があった。 When you exit the northern exit of Tabata Station, you will see a splendid building that can be seen on the left front.
