Water Shrine God of God Festival History The records indicate that the shrine was founded on August 20, 1685. Ita-do was built in the precincts of Motomiyaji with Toyouke Omikami, Oyamatsumi, and Sarutahiko-jin of Kusado, which have existed since ancient times, and is now a stone hall. Hachiman Shrine was dedicated to the neighboring land of Kunimi Village to make it Hachiman Shrine. The main hall was newly built in August 1700. It was rebuilt in 1734 (Kyoho 19th year) and revered nearby. The water shrine was called the Kannon temple until the first year of the Meiji era, but it was changed to the water shrine in 1876 (Meiji 9), and it was decided to offer the festival deity, Mizunami Nohmei. Mizu Shrine is located in Toyokawa Kannon-do, Daisen City. Until the first year of the Meiji era, it was called Kannon-do, but it was changed to a water shrine in Meiji 9 and it was said that it was decided to retire the god of the festival, Mizunami Noh. The only national treasure in Akita Prefecture, the mirror image of Senkoku Sente Kannon, is located at Mizu Shrine.

As it is the only national treasure in the prefecture, I was interested in learning about the history of Akita. The national treasure itself is in the civic center. I visited on November 3, 2020. Every year, on August 17, the national treasure copper mirror is open to the public. I want to see the real thing with my own eyes, but I haven't been able to do it. The cedar trees on the approach road are also wonderful.
