It is a quiet cemetery with cats. There are tombs of literary people, and there seems to be literary walk tours. There are cherry blossoms in spring, and you should not drink sake, but it is a good place to enjoy flowers with snacks.

I visit the grave twice a year. During the cherry blossom season, Yoshino cherry trees are in full bloom and beautiful. There are also tombs of famous people such as Kotaro Takamura.

It is a cemetery, but because it is quiet with lots of greens, I think it's quite good to take a walk, and I see some people who walk and jog dogs. You can also see the flowers while taking a walk during the cherry blossom season. There were many fine tombs, and I thought it would be nice to take a quiet walk (as there is no excuse for the spirit) if there is time.

Opened on September 1, 1874. The area of 67911㎡ is the smallest in the metropolitan cemetery. At the entrance to Sugamo Gate, there is a manhole from the time when it was in Sugamo-cho, Kitatoshima-gun. There is one near the foreigner's graveyard in the park, but it is not well preserved. Since a manhole was installed along with the laying of the sewer in Sugamo Town, it can be inferred that it was around 1930, and it is a very valuable manhole. Sugamo Town was established by the enforcement of the town and village system in April 1889. It was a municipality that existed until it was incorporated into Tokyo City in October 1932 along with Takada Town, Nishisugamo Town, and Nagasaki Town, Kitatoshima District, and became Toshima Ward. The former site of the Takebe residence of the Hayashida Domain (currently part of Himeji City) in Harima Province was opened as a public cemetery under the control of Tokyo Prefecture. The name was changed to Somei Cemetery in May 1935. In the season of ?, Yoshino cherry trees are in full bloom and beautiful. Originally, this neighborhood was the birthplace of Yoshino cherry tree.

Speaking of the road where cherry blossoms bloom, I remember this road. Yoshino cherry blossoms bloomed beautifully this year as well.

Not small Tokyo government public Somei Cemetery here. Not sure how old, but well kept up. I was interested to find a foreigner Gaijin section also, obviously with tomb-body style burial, not current cremation. A missionary Rev. G.E. Woodhall, a Scottish man from Glasgow who succombed to cholera in 1886, and an “Oriental Nightengale” was the only grave with a special recent post and flowers. Not sure of this person or story.
