巖本真理（いわもとまり） 1926年1月19日 - 1979年5月11日ヴァイオリニスト。出生時の戸籍名は巖本メリー・エステル、1942年、英語が敵性語とされたことを受け、真理と改名。教育者巌本善治と若松賤子の長男である巌本荘民（まさひと）と、米国人マーグリトの間の長女として東京西巣鴨に生まれ、メリー・エステルと名づけられる。6歳からヴァイオリンを小野アンナに学ぶ。ハーフとして差別を受け、病弱だったためもあり、1935年、私立帝国小学校を4年生で中退。自宅でヴァイオリンの英才教育を受け、1937年、日本音楽コンクールで一位となり、天才少女と呼ばれる。 1946年、20歳で東京音楽学校教授となるが、1950年、辞職して渡米。帰国後、演奏活動を再開、1959年、芸術選奨文部大臣賞、芸術祭奨励賞受賞。1964年、民放祭最優秀賞受賞、1965年、ブラームスの室内楽曲の全曲連続演奏を行い、毎日芸術賞受賞、1966年、「巌本真理弦楽四重奏団」を結成、1970年、レコード・アカデミー賞受賞。1971年、再度芸術選奨受賞。1974年、モービル音楽賞受賞。 1977年、乳癌に罹り手術するが、再発し、53歳で死去。日本初の室内楽定期演奏会94回の偉業を達成した。

Mari Iwamoto January 19, 1926-May 11, 1979 Violinist. The family register name at birth was Iwamoto Mari Esther, and in 1942, the name was changed to Mari after English was regarded as an enemy word. Born in Nishisugamo, Tokyo as the eldest daughter between educators Yoshiharu Iwamoto and the eldest son of Wakamatsu Shizuko, Masahito Iwamoto, and Marguerite, an American, he was named Mary Esther. Learned violin from Anna Ono from the age of six. In 1935, he dropped out of a private imperial elementary school in the 4th grade because he was discriminated against as a half and was ill. After receiving a violin genius education at home, he won first place in the Japanese Music Competition in 1937 and is called a genius girl. In 1946, he became a professor at the Tokyo Academy of Music at the age of 20, but in 1950 he resigned and moved to the United States. After returning to Japan, he resumed his performance activities and received the Minister of Education Award for Art Selection and the Encouragement Award for Arts Festival in 1959. Received the highest award at the commercial broadcasting festival in 1964, performed all Brahms chamber songs in succession in 1965, and received the Mainichi Art Award. In 1966, formed the "Iwamoto Mari String Quartet" and received the Record Academy Award in 1970. .. In 1971, won the art award again. Received the Mobile Music Award in 1974.
