★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 前橋電燈株式会社の発電所として日本で5番目、明治27年5月に完成しました。当時は動力用としての利用が無く、発電は夜間の電燈用だったそうです。現在は当時の煉瓦の建物の一部が残っているだけですが、貴重な産業遺構だと思います。
It was the fifth power plant of Maebashi Denso Co., Ltd., and was completed in May 1927. At that time, there was no use for power, and power generation was for night electricity. Currently, only a part of the brick building at that time remains, but I think it is a valuable industrial remains.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 地元散歩コースのスタート地点。天狗岩堰沿いに上流へ向かえば先ずは河津ザクラの若木、下流へ向かえばムクノキの林。どちらのコースも野鳥の声の中を歩くことになる。ガビチョウとカオジロガビチョウ、コジュケイなどの外来鳥の他に、シジュウカラ、エナガ、コゲラ、カワラヒワ、アオジ、ジョウビタキ、ツグミ、モズ、ヒヨドリ、スズメなどが用水路の両岸の木々の間を行き来している。
