★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 御祭神は素鵞嗚尊。弘仁9（818）年に天王山上に創建。その後山崩れのため大破し、元和5（1619）年に再建遷宮。万治2（1659）年に山上にあった社殿を山麓に遷座。明治15年村社列格、大正3年供進指定。素鵞神社によくあるように、江戸期までは牛頭天皇を祀る天王社であったようです。
その昔繁栄していたと聞く柏崎の港町ですが、今では普通のよくある集落にしか見えません、しかし、当社の壮麗さこそ、その繁栄ぶりの証左でありましょう。広々とした境内は丁寧に掃き清め得られ、鎮守の杜の巨木が涼やかな木陰を造り、そして、色鮮やかに彩色された御本殿のなんと見事なこと。柏崎集落の里人の誇りたる鎮守です。拝殿内を覗き込んだら、市指定文化財の柏崎素鵞神社絵馬が掲げられていました。明治28年に奉納されたもので、竹切り祇園の祭事が描かれた絵馬には、豊かな屋並みや霞ヶ浦に浮かぶ数多くの高瀬舟や外輪船（銚子丸）が見えました。
 The deity is Susanoo-no-Mikoto. Founded on Mt. Tenno in Konin 9 (818). After that, it was wrecked due to a landslide and rebuilt in 1619. In 1659, the shrine on the mountain was relocated to the foot of the mountain. Designated as a village company in 1897 and donated in 1918. As is often the case with Soga Shrine, it seems that it was a Tenno shrine dedicated to Gozu Tenno until the Edo period.
The port city of Kashiwazaki, which I heard was prosperous long ago, now looks like a normal village, but our magnificence is a testament to its prosperity. The spacious precincts have been carefully swept away, and the giant trees of the guardian forest create a cool shade, and the colorfully colored main shrine is wonderful. It is a proud guardian of the villagers of Kashiwazaki village. When I looked into the hall of worship, I saw the votive tablet of Kashiwazaki Soga Shrine, a cultural property designated by the city. Dedicated in 1887, the votive tablet on which the bamboo-cutting Gion festival was drawn showed abundant houses and many Takase boats and paddle steamers (Choshimaru) floating in Kasumigaura.
