土岐源氏嫡流の祖「土岐光衡(ときみつひら)」によって築城されたと伝わる。鎌倉時代初期に源頼朝に支えて功を挙げた源光衡がこの麓一日市場館に居を構え本拠とし、土岐と号したことから土岐氏が始まった。
現在の城跡はその後室町時代後期の戦国時代のもので、織田信長も入城しており。
土塁や堀切、曲輪の遺構が残っており中世山城の特徴をもっている。
【アクセス】
麓の神社から案内があります。徒歩で数分歩けば城跡ですが、隣にある天神山城跡(裏天神山城)も含めて散策すると80分ほどです。

その分眺望は素晴らしい。
一応歩きやすいように整備はされているし、迷うような事はありません。
ただ、駐車場に困るかもしれません。自分は、少し北側にある神社に停めさせていただきました。

車は大手門跡にもなっている諏訪神社に停めて、登城口まで歩きます。
登城口から本丸跡までは、それほど時間もかからず、さくっと登ることができます。
見晴らしもよく、街道と所領をよく見渡すことができます。
裏手には、天神山城と裏天神山城があるとこのことですが、夏場はちょっとキツそうな感じなので、次回ということで。

土岐家の本拠地として重要なお山城です！
土岐家の幟が幾本も立てられた西出丸、東出丸からは街道をよく見渡すことができ、当時の武士も同じ景色を見ていたかと思うと感慨深いです?山城ではありますが、歩道も整備されてるので歩きやすいです。途中、出丸や土塁跡、曲輪などもあり、山城をのんびり楽しめますよ?
駐車場は一応あります。トイレはありません。
本丸からも東濃の山々を見渡すことができ気持ちいいです。あと、平日はあまり観光客がいないので最高です?
苗木城もいいけど、城好きの方は鶴ケ城に訪れるのもいいですよ！楽しめます?
