上中城は，天仁年中（1108年～1110年）に北面の武士の一人によって築かれたと伝えられている。発掘調査により，この城は12世紀から13世紀を中心に使用されていたこと，東西84ｍ，南北40ｍ，周辺部の水田より１ｍ程度盛り上がった城内部分の面積が約3,000?あり，城の周囲には幅５ｍ，深さ１ｍの濠が廻り，城内の北端部に幅５ｍ，高さ1.8ｍ，長さ20ｍの土塁が築かれていることなどが明らかになった。本城跡は平地に築かれる城の形として非常に珍しい楕円形である点，平安時代末期に遡る非常に古い城である点，城跡全体が良好な形で残っている点など特筆すべき特徴があり，貴重な文化財である。

Kaminaka Castle is said to have been built by one of the northern samurai warriors during the Tennin period (1108-1110). According to excavation research, this castle was used mainly in the 12th to 13th centuries, and the area of the inner part of the castle was about 3,000? It was revealed that a moat with a width of 5 m and a depth of 1 m was running around, and a 5 m wide, 1.8 m high, 20 m long earthwork was built at the northern end of the castle. The main castle ruins have an oval shape that is extremely rare as a castle built on a flat land, a very old castle that dates back to the end of the Heian period, and the entire castle ruins remain in good shape. 特別城跡に興味のある方以外は、要ってもつまらないと思いますよ。
