昔は校庭の場所に参道があったのでしょう。

宇佐八幡宮を勧請したと伝えられています。
御祭神は比咩大神ではなく、湍津姫命となっています。
宮司さんによると、馬の嘶き、梟の鳴き声が聞こえると願いが叶うと言われているとのことでした。

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 「弓削」にある「八幡宮」、勧請は孝謙天皇。ひょっとして、道鏡を寵し、宇佐八幡から「道鏡を皇位につけよ」との偽の神託を承けたことと関係ある？いやぁ、いろいろ妄想するなぁ。狛犬さんが余裕の笑顔に見えて癒される。
"Hachimangu" in "Yuge", the solicitation is Emperor Koken. Perhaps it has something to do with the fact that he was able to accept the false mirror from Usa Hachiman, "put the mirror on the throne"? No, I fantasize in various ways. Komainu looks so relaxed and healed.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ As you go along the route 162 in the area of Yuge in Keihoku, you may notice a Torii gate next to Daisan ( third ) elementary school of Keihoku. The torii is a gateway leading to Keihoku Hachimangusha Shrine. The shrine was established as a place to enshrine guardians of this region. Emperor koken ( 749－758 ) ordered to enshrine 3 deities of Usa Hachimangu ( located in Oita Prefecture ) in this shrine. During late Edo period ( 19th century ) there was a conflict in this town of Yuge between north and south. As a result the north village yielded their position of right and transfered the location of one of its portable shrine back to Kumano Shrine. In the east of this shrine is Daisan ( third ) elementary school of Keihoku. Thre is a Shinboku ( sacred tree ) of this shrine still remaining in its school ground.
