御神木があり、かなり歴史ある神社と思われますが、地域の防災倉庫が無造作に建ててあったり、元々境内だったと思われる場所が駐車場になっていたりして、ちょっと残念な感じです。

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 竹屋町通をグッと曲げ、存在感を示す大宮姫命稲荷さま。元は宮中八神の内の大宮売神。ひょっとして何か理由あって、この地に留まっておられる？
境内の御神木(？)に鉄輪がはまり、四方の鉄柱が支える。ものものしい。
夏は榎の大木が木陰をつくり少し安らぐ。

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 当社は宮中神で神祇官西院坐御巫の祭神八座のうちの一座、大宮賣神を祀っていると言われている。神祇官西院はもともとこの地にあり、宮内省坐神の園神社、韓神社の遺趾もあったが、その後京都府監獄の敷地となり、現在はNHK京都放送局敷地となっているとのこと。なお、Googlemapの位置は違います。正確には京都市児童福祉センターの前になりますので、修正を依頼しました。

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 北鳥居と東鳥居がありますが、正門は神社名が刻まれた大きな石柱が東側にあるので東側なのでしょうか。
境内はかなり狭いです。狭い境内には本社の他に末社が３社有ります。
立派な御神木の前に本社が鎮座しています。
向かい側の京都児童福祉センターの入口付近には、「平安宮太政官跡」の説明書が有ります。
