It was a quiet and historical temple.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 室町時代の1466年に開創された曹洞宗の寺院で、最盛期には三十八ヶ寺の末寺を擁する中本山格の寺院でした。堀江城主である高家大沢氏の菩提寺でもあり、大沢氏歴代の墓苑があります。その昔、寺の西側の浜名湖には芦（蘆）が宿っていたことが寺号のいわれとされています。
江戸時代に建立された本堂や苔むした参道は、長い寺歴と風格を感じさせます。車でも境内に入ることはできますが、できれば県道脇の駐車場に車を置いて、参道の雰囲気を味わってください。
ここ庄内地方における明治時代の廃仏毀釈の嵐はすさまじく、有名な舘山寺も含め、この地域のほとんどの寺が廃寺となってしまいました。幸いにも宿蘆寺だけは歴史も古く、寺格も高かったため廃寺を免れました。
三方ヶ原の合戦から敗走する家康が、近くの蘆原に浮かんだ小舟で一夜を明かしたとの伝説もあります。しかし宿蘆寺は三方ヶ原から浜松城への逃走ルートからは遠く離れているので事実とは考えにくく、「小豆餅と銭取」のように、よくある「家康話」のひとつと私は考えています。
It was a temple of the Soto sect that was founded in 1466 during the Muromachi period, and at its peak it was a Nakamotoyama-style temple that had the last temple of 38 temples. It is also the family temple of Mr. Takaya Osawa, the owner of Horie Castle, and there is a graveyard of Mr. Osawa's successive generations. A long time ago, it is said that the temple name was that there was a reed (蘆) in Lake Hamana on the west side of the temple.
The main hall built in the Edo period and the mossy approach make you feel the long history and style of the temple. You can enter the precincts by car, but if possible, place your car in the parking lot beside the prefectural road and enjoy the atmosphere of the approach.
The storm of Haibutsu Kishaku in the Meiji era here in the Shonai region was tremendous, and most of the temples in this area, including the famous Tateyama Temple, have been abandoned. Fortunately, only Shukuroji has a long history and has a high temple status, so it escaped the abandoned temple.
Legend has it that Ieyasu, who was defeated from the Battle of Mikatagahara, spent the night in a small boat floating in nearby Ashihara. However, Shukuroji is far from the escape route from Mikatagahara to Hamamatsu Castle, so it is hard to think of it as a fact, and I think it is one of the common "Ieyasu stories" like "Azukimochi and Zenitori". I am.
