★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 国分寺薬師堂の北東にある国分寺鎮守の神社。陸奥国分寺とともに建立されたが、戦火で焼失し、のちに国分重盛が再興、更に江戸時代に入ってから政宗が仙台総産土神と定め、2代藩主忠宗以降も歴代藩主が社殿の補修などを行い厚く保護した。
3月3日の例祭は城下では東照宮の祭りにつぐにぎわいで、流鏑馬や、流鏑馬の的を奪い合う「的ばやい」、舞楽も行われる活気あるものだった。
祭りでは決まって火伏せの縁起物「ぼんぼこ槍」や「木ノ下駒」が売られ人気を集めた。
白山神社の例祭には「ぼんぼこ祭り」の別称があった。見せ物小屋まで立ったにぎわいの様子は、遠藤曰人の絵「ぼんぼこ祭り図」(仙台市博物館蔵)に細かく描かれている。現在、社殿は県指定の文化財となっている。

The regular festival at Hakusan Shrine was also known as the "Bomboko Festival". The bustling state of standing up to the showhouse is detailed in the "Bonboko Matsurizu" (pictured at Sendai City Museum) by Soto Endo. Currently, the shrine is a cultural property designated by the prefecture.
