P	Patrick Garwood on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Shirakaba Resort Ikenotaira Hotel is a family resort hotel by Lake Shirakaba in Nagano Prefecture. It is a great place to bring the family for a long weekend. There are plenty of things for the kids to do in the hotel (such as swimming, bowling, table tennis) and many more things to do in the surrounding area such as riding a mini steam train, renting a boat on the lake and taking the ski lift up the hill to the owl sanctuary. This really is a great place if you have a young family.

A good place to rest and away from the stressful life of city with it facilities of hot springs.The room is spacious and it is large enough for family traveller though the building is old. The staffs are friendly and helpful.

They were only able to accommodate a non smoking room by giving us a kids room with a torn couch and tiny beds that our feet hang off. We are stuck for the night but would leave if we could. Buffet was terrible too. The entire facility is literally falling apart. There are tarps and funnels trying to handle ceiling leaks in main common areas, shattered and taped floors, and the ceiling is actually falling down.

The hotel offers a number of facilities - pool, onsen, bowling, arcade, amusement park and a viewing spot on the hill behind the hotel. The food was a good standard, some dishes I particularly enjoyed - others could be better. The hotel isn't particularly modern and is in need of maintenance and refurbishment.

Also, you can try 13 kinds of hot springs, which is popular as well. You can have fun and create memories from spring to fall at the amusement park, which is called "Family Land". It’s a 2 minute walk from the hotel. There is a ski place in front of you in winter. Kids can play in the snow and go skiing for the first time. Everyone can enjoy activities in each season.

Actually it’s not new but they have many activities to enjoy in the hotel, like big mix public bath we can enjoy with swim wear, pool, karaoke, ski/snowboard in winter, table tennis and so on. As for dinner, it’s also great! Buffet style is good for families. Our children ate lots of sushi and beef stake. Staff are friendly and great. I believe that our children will say “I want to go the hotel again”.
