When I visited for the first time in a year, there was a Western-style toilet in the ticket gate. Although it is a large station, the window seems to be closed at night. It doesn't matter Watch out for taxis. When I walked in front of the station, a taxi driven by an old man in his 50s at a green light crossing turned left, slowed down, rushed to the end, and when I glanced at it, I saw it as if it was sharply reversed. Yes!

It is the second busiest station after Ishiyama Station among the 4 stations on the Tokaido Main Line in Otsu City. It is a station where the new rapid train does not stop, but it seems that there is a university in the background. The north side of the station is a traditional residential area and there is no maintenance such as a rotary. Is development difficult? Development is limited exclusively to the south side. There are restaurants around the station.

Even though the number of passengers getting on and off is larger than that of Otsu Station, the special rapid service does not stop, so the station is very crowded in the morning.

Seta Station is a station on the West Japan Railway Company (JR West) Tokaido Main Line, located in 1-chome, Otsu, Otsu City, Shiga Prefecture. The station number is JR-A26. It is included in the nickname section of the "Biwako Line". Background of station installation The Tokaido Main Line in the current section of Seta Station was opened in 1889 (Meiji 22) when the Tokaido Main Line was fully opened, but at that time there was a stop (station) between Baba Station (current Zeze Station) and Kusatsu Station. )There was no. In July 1900 (Meiji 33), Seta-mura, Kurita-gun (at that time) told the Minister of Communications to set up a stop at Minami-Ogaya (almost the same position as the current Seta Station) as a stop between Baba Station and Kusatsu Station. I petitioned. However, the petition to set up this stop was not adopted, and Ishiyama Station was opened first in 1903 (Meiji 36), the year after the double tracking between Baba Station and Kobe Station was completed. In the end, it was almost half a century later that the story went on to set up Seta Station. It was the construction of the Tokaido Shinkansen that triggered the establishment of Seta Station. The Tokaido Shinkansen is a route that passes through Seta Town (at that time), and in 1960 (Showa 35), we asked the local community for the consent of the survey. On the other hand, the locals insisted on opening Seta Station in return for surveying cooperation, as the average distance between JNR stations at that time was 4km and the distance between Ishiyama Station and Kusatsu Station was 7.7km. In addition to this petition, the Tokaido Main Line at that time had been undergoing double-track construction between Kyoto Station and Kusatsu Station, including the Seta River Bridge construction, from 1966 (Showa 41) due to the tight transportation volume. It was decided to build a new Seta station, which was a long-cherished desire of the local community, in connection with the construction work. Since this Seta station is a petition station, the construction cost of 118 million yen will be undertaken by the local Seta town (Otsu city due to the merger in 1967), donations from companies and subsidies from Shiga prefecture, municipal bonds of Otsu city. Funded by. The site of Seta Station and the station square was part of the precincts of Kayano Shrine. The precincts were divided into two by the installation of the Tokaido Main Line, and with the installation of the station, the guardian forest became a station square and disappeared [1]. By the way, Minami-Kusatsu Station, which is next to the east, opened on September 4, 1994. Station structure home It is an above-ground station with two island platforms and four lines, and has a Hashigami station building. The effective length of the home is a 12-car train. Since it does not have a turnout or an absolute signal, it is classified as a bus stop. It is a business consignment station operated by JR West Koutsu Service Co., Ltd., and Otsu Station manages this station. ICOCA available stations (see ICOCA section for interoperable IC cards). During the daytime, four trains stop every hour during normal times (rapid trains from Takatsuki Station to Osaka). The number increases in the morning hours. Usage situation The average daily number of passengers in 2019 is 18,224. [5] It ranks fourth in Shiga prefecture after Minami-Kusatsu, Kusatsu, and Ishiyama stations. It ranks first among the stations on the Biwako Line where the Special Rapid Service passes, and is more than the stations that stop at Maibara, Hikone, Notogawa, Nosu, Moriyama, and Otsu. [5]

Go out to the west exit of Seta Station and walk to the right (along the track) and there is a beautiful cherry blossoming area about 2 minutes. A considerable number of cherry blossoms are blooming along the riverside and it is very beautiful.

Because elementary and junior high schools are nearby Elementary school students are often used for off-campus learning, and junior high school students are often used for general and games. There are many people who get off at Seta Station, especially young people and middle-aged people. On rainy days, it is very easy to slip before the ticket gate, and you can see people who slip and get injured. There are many people who run late, so please be careful about your feet on a rainy day. Also, there are Seven-Eleven and Lawson down the stairs near the ticket gate, so it is recommended for those who have forgotten breakfast.
