I really love this train station. Orderly and organized well. The main hall is one of my favourite parts of the building. Lovely ceiling tiles and the upper floor Shinkansen level is visible from the street. There are also lots of shopping and restaurants here. Connected to the SPAL and various hotels. The pedestrian bridge connects you to Loft, Muji, Parco 1 and 2, and AER.

When arriving to Sendai Station from Tokyo, it didn't take long for me to realize that I was the only Westerner, at that moment, in the station. It was very different. While at the station, it seemed that more people were surprised to see me, and were also more curious. It was nice to see a different aspect of the country. The overall station is pretty huge, and they have a good amount of restaurants and shops to visit. One of Sendai's specialties is beef tongue. Yes, insane. You can find that in the station as well. Try it. They also have a tourist information center to help you explore Sendai. They also have some great sweets to try! It's pretty nice.

Sendai Station is one of the best station in Tohoku region beside Tokyo, Shinjuku and Hachinohe station which I had visited so far. It is surrounded by shopping center, retail shops, restaurants and hotels and has alot of tourist spots like Aobayama Park, Zuihoden, Sendai City Museum etc. On 30th July 2017, after spending a few days at Hachinohe, we decided to use our JR passes to travel from Hachinohe to Sendai. We started our train ride from Hachinohe station at 1616hr by the Hayabusha Shinkansen train and reached Sendai Station about 1730hr. At Sendai we had our dinner at Date Cafe O'rder inside the Sendai Station. I would highly recommend this eating place as we enjoyed our food there.

One of the major stations in north Japan, I liked it as it’s not as big and crazy as Tokyo station and not too small as well, with many restaurants (3rd floor) and other small souvenir shops on 2nd floor. The apple pie shop “Ringo” on second floor is worth mentioning here - they have amazing apple pies. Must try!

As most major japanese stations, busy, efficient and convenient. If you have a couple of hours for a meal I would recommend the east exit in the second floor where you can find plenty of good restaurants both within the station and in the nearby BiVi mall (to the left). If you are in a hurry for shinkansen tickets, your best bet is one of the ubiquitous vending machines on the third floor, but if you need to speak to a human being the small service center in the second floor by the turnstiles is usually faster than the big service center in the third.

Only one hour and half by Shinkansen if traveling from Tokyo station. There are multiple floors that are filled with tons of shops and restaurants to choose from. They had a nice little local market set up in the middle of the station when I visited in October. I enjoyed my time here and even ate some delicious cow tongue on the 2nd floor before returning to Tokyo.
