As a facility that you can enjoy for free, I think there are many exhibits. I thought it was for adults in the field, but I saw many families with children. There is a similar mini-earth for outdoor exhibition at the Children's Science Museum in Tochigi Prefecture, but the map and survey science museum is brand new and beautiful. You can watch it forever. I would like you to feel the distance between the moon and the earth, which was reproduced at a scale of 1/12 million. By the way, there was an explanation that the position of the sun is around Mt. Tsukuba in the back.

From Tsukuba Center, take the Science Tour Bus that runs on weekends and holidays. I was the only passenger on the bus. It's like a place where people nearby drive. There are many exhibits, but since maps are in the humanities and surveying is in the sciences, you may be interested if you divide them well, but it will be difficult to make elaborate exhibitions because the tour is free.

A child who likes maps wants to go, so I went. Due to the influence of snow on the day, there was no one else and it was in a chartered state. I wasn't so interested in it and thought that it would take about an hour, but there were many exhibits and I was watching for almost three hours until 16:00 when the museum closed. I also enjoyed eye measurement games and quizzes. There were various shops and rare ones, but I couldn't take a closer look because the closing time had come. I couldn't go out to the outdoor global open space because of snow removal on that day, so I would like to go see it again.

-There is an interesting permanent exhibition with many maps and surveying devices. You can understand the history and evolution of surveying in Japan. Some maps and machines are very old and classy. Not too crowded. However, the most of explanation boards is in Japanese, rarely English presented and no tour guides.
