とても綺麗なお社と境内で、参拝させて頂き良かったです。

社門は「七ツ脚門」と呼ばれています。
由来は、西暦1689年、伊達家が深く信仰していた塩竈神社のお釜が不思議にもカラカラになり、いくら水を入れても貯まらなくなってしまいました。
不吉の兆しと領内の神官・僧侶などが加持祈祷を行ったが効き目がなかった。
そこで、薬萊神社に伝来の三輪流神楽が藩命を受け、塩竈神社前にて七日間雨乞いの神楽を奉演、見事慈雨の恵を得た。
殿様は大変喜び、そのお礼として何を望むかと問われたので、大手門のような立派な門が欲しいと答えた。
殿様は大変困り、番所のような門では具合が悪いから柱を一本抜き、伊達家の紋をつけることでどうだと仰せられ、有り難く頂戴した…。
