★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 三階の滝は蔵王山系を源とする澄川の右岸に前烏帽子岳より溶岩台地の絶壁を落下する落差181mの滝である。エコーライン途中の滝見台から澄川を挟んでその三段の雄大な姿を見ることが出来る。下から間近に滝を見上げるには、蔵王自然の家から澄川の舟石経由で遡行するルートか、あるいはエコーラインの萩平口より山腹の緩やかな自然歩道のルートがある。
The waterfall on the third floor is a waterfall with a head of 181m that falls on the cliff of the lava plateau from Mt. From the Takimidai on the way to the echo line, you can see the magnificent view of the three steps across the Sumi River. To look up at the waterfall from the bottom up, you can go back from Zao Natural House via Funaishi on Sumikawa, or take a gentle nature trail on the hillside from Hagihira Exit on the Echo Line.

As it is called the Sankai Falls, the waterfall has three steps. The steep mountain surface is shaved to form a valley, and the water flows vigorously.
It is a sightseeing spot of Zao Echo Line.

I went to "Sankai Falls", one of the 100 best waterfalls in Japan, in November 2010. It is a distant waterfall with autumn leaves in the background, but the appearance of a magnificent white waterfall was impressive.

山から落ちる三段の巨大な滝を、対岸の展望台から望む形となる。非常に景色がよく、スケール感は抜群で気持ちいい。しかしながら、滝自体はあまりにも遠すぎて、滝としての迫力は皆無。エコーライン途中でサクッと見るにはちょうどいいスポット。

You can see the huge three-tiered waterfall that falls from the mountain from the observatory on the opposite bank. The scenery is very nice, and the scale is outstanding and comfortable. However, the waterfall itself is so far away that it has no power as a waterfall. A perfect spot to see quickly in the middle of the echo line.
