★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 昭和27年に日本考古学協会、そして翌28年には東京大学人類学教室によって発掘調査が行われて、総数100体を超える縄文人骨が出土したことで、一躍全国に知られるようになった場所ですね。
日本は酸性土壌ですから古い時代の人骨が残りにくいのですが、貝塚はアルカリ性なので比較的残りやすい、といったことがあるようです。
その人骨のDNAを解析した結果、縄文人にはかなり独特の特徴があることが分かってきています。
