雷電山照光寺境内（広い駐車場脇）にある雷電山古墳（別名：亀塚古墳）墳頂に鎮座していらっしゃいます。雷電山古墳は、6世紀中頃に築造された帆立貝形前方後円墳（全長55.8ｍ、高さ約9ｍ）で、その形状から亀塚古墳と呼ばれたのでしょう。墳頂からは鎌倉時代初期の経筒などが出土しており、当時は経塚としても利用されたようです。雷電神社の御由緒等は残念ながら分かりませんでしたが、江戸時代に神社が造営されたそうです。狛犬の代わりに新しい風神・雷神像があり、やはり新しい鳥居と併せて近年整備されたのでしょう。

You are sitting at the top of the Raidenyama Kofun (also known as Kamezuka Kofun) in the precincts of Raidenyama Shokoji Temple (next to a large parking lot). The Raidenyama tumulus is a scallop-shaped front-rear tumulus (total length 55.8 m, height about 9 m) built in the middle of the 6th century, and it is probably called the Kamezuka tumulus because of its shape. From the top of the burial mound, sutra mounds from the early Kamakura period were excavated, and it seems that they were also used as sutra mounds at that time. Unfortunately, I did not know the history of Raiden Shrine, but it seems that the shrine was built in the Edo period. Instead of the guardian dog, there is a new statue of Fujin and Raijin, which may have been improved in recent years along with the new torii gate.
