Ridiculous service. Even with reservation there is a queue and they let people behind me get the cake first.

i've tried four cakes from this shop and they were definitely better than most dept store cakes. still a bit too sweet for my taste, i must say.

Maybe the best cakes i had in Tokyo, with excellent chocolate lover options. Love their "caradoux". Seems to be only on appointment now though...

The reservation/pick-up process aside (just be prepared for a small wait despite your reservation), this is one of the most delicious patisseries around. They don’t come plastic-wrapped like most other pastries in Japan, so the crispy and crunchy textures remain as intended. The prices are extremely reasonable for the quality, too. Definitely a favorite !

Reservation only Patisserie, prepare to wait a while when you collect your cake. The pastries are amazing and fantastic value compared to other Patisseries in Tokyo.

Ryoco is a patisserie that sells through online ordering only, which I must say works very well for social distancing. You place an order online and choose the day and time you want to pick up your order. Note that the days on which each item is available varies so do check their website regularly. When I picked up my order, they had the 14cm Montblanc cake and Petit Gateau sets available for sale without booking so you might want to try your luck if you happen to pass by when they are open. Also, be prepared to wait a little bit at pick-up but the staff are generally quite efficient. Tried the chou a la creme, the petit gateau set, the rocher chocolat, and the croquant. Everything was delicious but I especially liked the chou with its crispiness and satisfying amount of custard cream, and also the rocher chocolat, a small cookie that melted in the mouth. Their whole cakes look heavenly so will definitely give them a try when there's a special occasion. Follow-up: Try the financier and pound cakes if you like a homemade taste. Their whole cakes sell out in literally minutes so be sure to get online at 10am on Friday, Saturday or Sunday to reserve for pick-up one week later. I finally managed to reserve a Mont-blanc cake but had a terrible experience at pick-up. I chose the 12-1pm option and arrived at 12:20pm. Put my name down on the list and waited. By 12:50pm I saw that people behind me were being served first and asked what the problem was. They said the Mont-blanc wasn't ready yet but will soon be. So I waited again. The "will be ready soon" turned out to be another 25 minutes' wait. I told them that they could have told me that there was a delay and asked me to go at 1pm instead but they just kept silent and made me stand waiting for an hour. I complained to the staff but she just said the wait is usually long for the 12-1pm slot and that the later slots are less busy. Obviously they didn't understand what the problem was so I'm downgrading the review to 3 stars. Service aside, the cake itself was ok. There was an interesting chewy layer inside that had a texture that resembled ice-cream but tasted quite strongly of liqueur.
