You can see Mt. Fuji from here. The design of the 500-yen bill is said to be the scenery from the summit of Gangaharasuriyama. The Magi Koganezawa Forest Road has a vehicle closed gate on the border of Otoge, and it has been closed for many years from here to Fukashiro Dam due to the collapse. However, the section between Magi and Otoge on the Magi Koganezawa Forest Road will also be closed in winter. It is a paved forest road, but be careful as there are some depressions (craters). Vehicles are closed on the Narago Forest Road and Yakiyamazawa Maki Higashi Forest Road on the way. From Route 20, go up the Hayashimichi Magi Koganezawa Line. All lines have been paved and there is no problem with passing each other. However, on the way, there are places where the pavement is cracked and a large step is created. Since the cone is placed, I think that it will not plunge into the step, but be careful. The gate is closed in the photo, but the road is closed from here due to collapse. This is the starting point for climbing, so many cars are parked especially on holidays. There are about 10 proper parking slots, but the road is wide for a while before that, so I think it is possible to park a considerable number of cars. In 2021, the winter closure was lifted on April 23 (Friday), and the next day, about 20 cars stopped immediately around noon. There is also a well-built toilet beside the parking lot. It wasn't flushed, so it wasn't very clean, but it wasn't enough to hesitate to use it, and there was no stench that made me breathless. There are two trailheads, and if you go to the right, you will be guided to Gangaharasuriyama, and if you go to the left, you will be guided to Kurodake. Gangaharasuriyama is one of the 100 famous mountains in Yamanashi, and the distance is short and it is relatively easy to climb.

This place is located in the back of Maki, my hometown, and is famous for Gangaharasuriyama and Kurodake. In particular, Gangaharasuriyama is famous as a shooting place for 500-yen bills. I went there for the first time in a long time, but unfortunately it was cloudy, but it was nice to be able to take a picture of Mt. Fuji.

I climbed from the Otsuki side by bicycle in July 1984. It is the starting point of Mt. Gangaharasuriyama, which is famous for Mt. Fuji drawn on a 500-yen bill. At that time, the Maki Oganazawa Forest Road was an unpaved rough road, and it was an extremely hard forest road that climbed an altitude difference of 1100 m or more from around 400 m above sea level to a pass of 1569 m at a stretch. The Fukashiro side has never been able to pass through due to the severe collapse from long ago. I tried it in April 1983, but I gave up because it completely collapsed at an altitude of over 1000m.
