★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 東日本大震災により壊滅してしまった駅。隣の盛駅は比較的内陸側にあった為被害は軽微だったようだが、海に近いこの大船渡駅は甚大な被害を受けた。
その後、大船渡線はBRTとして復旧しこの大船渡駅も駅舎こそないものの、BRTの駅として整備されている。
周辺には2つのホテルの他、キャッセン大船渡と呼ばれる商業施設が完成し、そして津波防災拠点の行政施設が現在整備中で有り、さらに区画整理事業も行われており、直に海と共に歩む新しいカタチでの街が現れる事になるだろう。
A station that was destroyed by the Great East Japan Earthquake. The adjacent Sheng station was relatively inland, so the damage seemed to be minor, but Ofunato station near the sea was severely damaged.
The Ofunato Line was later restored as a BRT, and Ofunato Station has no station building, but has been maintained as a BRT station.
In addition to the two hotels, a commercial facility called Kassen Ofunato has been completed, and the administrative facilities of the Tsunami Disaster Prevention Base are currently under construction. The city at will appear.
